Ok, so the audience on this topic is small, but there is an audience never the less. The problem, you can’t get your .CBR files to your iPad. This is a problem because if nothing else the iPad is the greatest comic book delivery tool ever created (except comic books of course). The first problem, there aren’t any good .CBR readers for the iPad (until now), nor are there many good tools for getting content onto the iPad.
Enter CloudReaders. This is a free app, and it is just stellar. Install the app, connect your iPad to your Mac/PC, launch iTunes, go to the “apps” tab and scroll to the bottom. CloudReaders shows up in iTunes in the app section of your iPad and allows you to add/remote files to the app.
The quality of the viewer is awesome. I doesn’t offer the frame zooming like the apps offered by Marvel or IDW, but that is alright.
There are other ways to get your .CBR’s onto your iPad like converting them to epub format and then uplaoding them to iBooks, but the result is that you read comics like you read a book.
Go with CloudReaders, it’s free and it works very well.
